The island

The island of Procida is of volcanic origin and geologically is part of the area of ​​the Campi Flegrei.

Particular interest is covered by the sixteenth century Palace of Avalos. The palace was designed to serve both the function of a noble residence and that of a fortress. In the 1736 Charles of Bourbon he arranged the adaptation of the structure to real residence.

Ferdinando Fuga e subsequently worked on the complex Carlo Vanvitelli. Francesco I, between the 1830 and the 1831, arranged to become a prison and this destination lasted until the 1988.
Since July 2013, the Palace has been designed to promote the development of the island.
