The Night of the Tammorra 2026 in Naples: cast, program, and schedule

The 24th edition of La Notte della Tammorra is ready to liven up Piazza Mercato : the largest festival of popular music and culture in Campania is scheduled for Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September 2026 , with free admission.

The event, promoted and financed by the Municipality of Naples as part of the Naples City of Music project , closes the Summer in Naples 2026 program and this year pays special tribute to Roberto De Simone.

Two evenings of folk music in Piazza Mercato

Both concerts start at 8.30pm on the stage set up in Piazza Mercato , with free admission.

The cast of the two evenings

Some of the most important exponents of Neapolitan folk music take turns on stage : Lina Sastri , Tony Esposito , Ciccio Merolla , Maurizio Capone , Flo and Ars Nova Napoli.

With them Biagio De Prisco , the voice of tradition, and the historic paranze : from the one from Giugliano to 'O Lione , from Terzigno to the Lattari Mountains . Space also for the tarantellas of Montemarano , Cilento , Gargano and Carpino.

Completing the cast are Fiorenza Calogero , Simona Boo , Irene Scarpato (Suonno d'ajere), Marianita Carfora , Greg Rega , Denise Di Maria , Tony Cercola , Gennaro Tesone (Alma Megretta) and Lavinia Mancusi.

The free tammorra workshops

To bring the public closer to the culture of the tammorra , six workshops of popular dances and frame drums will be held from 7 to 10 September at the headquarters of the Il Canto di Virgilio Foundation , in via Santa Chiara 10/c.

On September 11th and 12th, the workshops will move to Piazza Mercato , from 17:00 PM to 19:00 PM , in anticipation of the evening concerts. Participation is free and no reservation is required.

A party born in 2001

The Night of the Tammorra was born in 2001 , inspired by the ancient Comiziano festival in honor of San Severino. At the heart of the festival are the tammorra , a frame drum symbolizing ancient rituals, and the tammurriata , a circular dance passed down from ancient masters.

The artistic direction is entrusted to Carlo Faiello , a central figure in the Neapolitan musical scene, already a historical member of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare alongside Roberto De Simone.
