Capodichino Airport closes for 40 days for works. When and where you will fly
Naples-Capodichino Airport is preparing for a temporary closure at the beginning of the 2026 to allow i runway resurfacing works. Runway RWY06/24, 2.648 meters long, is the only one available for landings and take-offs, and requires extraordinary maintenance. According to what was communicated by GESAC, manager of the airport, the works will last approximately 42 days and will lead to the total suspension of air traffic. Specifically, it will close from January 19, 2026 to March 1, 2026.
Why the track needs to be redone and how much it will cost
The renovation is part of a plan modernization of airport infrastructure. With over 12 million passengers in 2024, the Neapolitan airport has reached record traffic volumes. Rebuilding a runway is not like resurfacing a road: it requires special materials, international standards and engineering interventions on multiple levels. The project includes a investment of approximately 20 million euros, with the aim of increasing safety, durability and performance of the track in the coming decades.

During the temporary closure, some flights may be diverted to Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport, located in Pontecagnano.
