Directly from the head of communication of the fire brigade, Luca Cari, comes terrible news about the landslide that hit the island of Ischia.

Among the various missing they were there too a mother with her newborn, finally recovered in the last few hours.

Testimony released during an interview with Adnkronos, during which the operations of the Fire Brigade active in the area were discussed, but it was precisely this anecdote that struck us.

We found a mother in the house attached upstream with her 20-day-old baby, holding him tightly in her arms. Then, a man, a woman

The reference is to the recovery of the little John Joseph Scotto di Minico, a child born just over three weeks ago which, at the time of the operation, was found with his mother protecting him with her body. Unfortunately there was nothing to be done for both.

Rescue operations continue

Meantime rescue operations continue in the municipality of Casamicciola, the police and the forces of the Civil Protection are engaged in dig through rubble and mud in search of the missing.

Our teams continue to search, especially where the girl was found with the boy. It is very probable that the other missing persons are at that point. It's complicated because that area can only be reached on foot. Neither vehicles nor bulldozers nor excavators can arrive. It can only be reached on foot. We have begun to clear the roads to allow the passage of emergency vehicles, but here we are unable to use bobcats or excavators
