Il Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano of Naples hosts the contemporary art exhibition "Los Angeles (State of Mind)", from May 28 to 26 September 2021, as part of the museum project which, for some years, has exhibited a series of works dedicated to the most important cities in the world in a cycle that in recent months focuses on LA
Los Angeles is a city that represents that America which is in our collective imagination, together with New York, full of contradictions a bit like our Naples.
It is a megalopolis built in the desert in which many personalities, many languages and also many artistic currents coexist.
This post in brief
The exhibition between experimentation and contamination
Los Angeles (State of Mind) tells us a city where a lot is experimented both in painting and with extreme performances and in which it is very much alive contamination between alternative lowbow cultures. A world in which the mild climate has greatly affected the type of art that was born because the lifestyle influences the artists' production.
It is the city of Francis Scott Fitzgerand and Charles Bukowski, but also by Bret Easton Ellis, the megalopolis of which Jack Kerouac he said "There is the city called Los Angeles although no one can see what it may have to do with angels".
Los Angeles is the mecca of contemporary art and this exhibition tells us about it with works by several generations of artists from the 70s to today.
The relationship between Naples and contemporary art
Through the exhibition we are also able to discover how the relationship between Naples and contemporary art is actually very close since many collectors and galleries of our city have contributed to enrich the exhibition.
