The exposure Luca Giordano, from painting to nature was born from an idea of Sylvain Bellenger, director of the Capodimonte Museum and Christophe Leribault, director of the Petit Palais in Paris, where the first exhibition dedicated to Luca Giordano took place.
Luca Giordano, from painting to nature
The exhibition will feature more than 90 works that will allow you to learn about the history and artistic career of Luca Giordano, the famous Neapolitan painter of the '600.
Luca Giordano in fact was born in Napoli in 1634 and in his early twenties he made two paintings for the church of San Pietro ad Aram and the altarpiece in the transept of the church of Santa Brigida. He spent a few years of his life in Rome and Florence and later moved to Spain where he remained for about 10 years and where he was appointed painter of the king, giving rise to canvases and frescoes.
His skill and fame immediately grows, becoming a "model" for other artists who are very similar to him and who are therefore inspired by him but using different techniques.
