Malafemmena, a tour to discover the rebel women of Naples for March 8th
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Partenope In Tour organizes “Malafemmena – Tour-Show to discover the rebellious women of Naples”, a special event that pays homage to the female figures who have left an indelible mark on the city's history. A journey through art, culture and social commitment, to discover women who have challenged conventions and prejudices.
An exciting itinerary through the streets of Naples
The tour will pass through symbolic places of the city, each linked to the story of an extraordinary woman:
- Piazza del Gesù Nuovo – The journey begins with Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca, journalist and patriot of the Neapolitan Republic of 1799, a woman who strongly defended her ideals until the end.
- Piazza San Domenico Maggiore – The tragic story of Maria d'Avalos, victim of an honor killing that has marked the collective memory of Naples.
- San Gregorio Armeno – An in-depth look at the janare, the legendary Neapolitan witches, women feared and persecuted for their independence.
- San Lorenzo Maggiore – The tribute to Matilde Serao, the first female journalist in Italy and founder of “Il Mattino”, a pillar of modern journalism.
- Via dei Tribunali – The story of the extraordinary rise of Sophia Loren, cinema icon and symbol of female emancipation.
- Maria Rosaria Liberti (Ria Rosa) – A tribute to one of the first Neapolitan feminists, an artist and voice against patriarchy since the beginning of the 900th century.
The event will not only be a historical tour, but an immersive experience thanks to the use of earphones that will allow you to follow the path with clarity and comfort. At the end of the tour, participants will attend a performance dedicated to the figure of the Neapolitan woman.
