The man who measures the clouds is the suggestive contemporary art sculpture on the roof of the Madre Museum in Naples!

Al Mother Museum di Napoli il 29 June 2017 the installation of a new work of contemporary art will be inaugurated and can be visited until December 19. It is aboutMan measuring the clouds, created by the Belgian artist Jan Fabre and included in the context of “Per_formare una Collezione, the ongoing training project of the museum's collection”.

The sculpture, whose full title is "The Man Who Measures Clouds (American version, 18 years older) 1998 - 2016", will be placed on the roof of the Mother Museum and wants to be at the same time a reference to release of prisoners from Alcatraz after the Second World War and a personal homage of the author to his brother died prematurely. In fact, the title of the work recalls the phrase uttered by the ornithologist Robert Stroud when he left the concentration camp because he stated "From now on I will measure the clouds".

The choice to represent a man who measures clouds, abstract and changing entities that make the attempt impossible, is based on reflection about artistic research which, similarly to that of the scientist, seeks to overcome the boundary of knowledge.
