Mandolins under the stars, a relaxing and fascinating free concert in Piazza del Plebiscito for the night of San Lorenzo.

What better place to admire the stars if not Piazza Plebiscito? The famous spotlight was chosen by the City of Naples for the concert "Mandolins under the stars"To be held for the night of San Lorenzo.

During starry night par excellence, at midnight on the dot, the famous esplanade of Naples will be private of the usual lights so as to bring down the total darkness: wrapped in the dark, citizens and tourists can look upwards hunting for shooting stars. The fascinating research will be accompanied by the sweet violin music. The concert, directed by the mandolinist Mauro Squillante, will be subdivided into three different performances that will start from 23.00 hours:

  • First session: classic Neapolitan repertoire performed by the Ensemble Mandolinistico Salernitano (3 mandolins, mandola, mandoloncello and guitar).
  • Second session: unpublished contemporary pieces for mandolin and accordion performed by the Duo Botany Play.
  • Grand Finale: the Neapolitan Mandolin Academy Orchestra, composed of 20 elements including mandolins, mandolins, mandolocels and guitars, will perform Neapolitan serenades with music by Calace, Emma, ​​Rossini.
