Mandolins under the stars in Piazza del Plebiscito for free for the Night of San Lorenzo 2018

Piazza Plebiscito in Naples

At Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples you can hunt for shooting stars accompanied by a free concert of mandolins for the Night of San Lorenzo 2018.

Attention: differently from the first program sent to us by the Municipality, the event has been moved from Capodimonte to Piazza del Plebiscito.

Friday August 10 2018, night of San Lorenzo, the appointment is in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples to admire the starry sky and attend the concert "Mandolins under the stars". The sweet and evocative sound of the mandolin, the very symbol of Naples, will accompany the public until late in a free concert very suggestive.

The event, like every year, will take place in Piazza del Plebiscito. Initially, as planned, it was planned at Capodimonte but later the municipality changed location back to the historical one.

The night of the 10 August is associated with the passage of the Perseid meteor shower, a phenomenon that, associated with the sharpness of the summer sky, makes this perfect night to hunt for shooting stars.

To complete the evening there will be members ofNeapolitan Amateur Astronomers Union that will guide the public in'observation of shooting stars explaining why they are called so and responding to many high curiosities. Also, weather permitting, they will also observe the stars and planets visible in this period, from west to east, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars.
