At Mann in Naples a special nativity scene with reproductions of the masterpieces on display at the museum

Crib

For Christmas 2018 the Mann of Naples exhibits a new crib containing the reproductions of the masterpieces preserved in the museum

From 5 December 2018 to National Archaeological Museum of Naples a very special nativity scene will be put on display. On the occasion of 2018 Christmas, in fact, the museum has prepared a crib in which some of the most beautiful works in the museum are reproduced. The most talented Neapolitan cribs worked to perfect this work, strictly of craftsmanship.

The statuettes on display at the entrance to the museum were specially created by Neapolitan artists of the Neapolitan Presepistica Association that have precisely inspired the marble or frescoed masterpieces kept in the MANN as the Farnese bull or some excavation scene with miniature reproductions of small frescoes such as the figures inspired by the Danaids from the villa of the Papyri or the Venus Callipigia.

As communicated by the museum director Paolo Giulierini “All the protagonists are placed in environments of classical architecture that often wink at that represented in the frescoes. Who has achieved all this is a group of great Neapolitan artists and only at Mann could sublimate an encounter between the art of S. Gregorio Armeno and the ancient one with an absolutely original message in form and substantial in the desire for peace and serenity for all. "
