There is a new provision relating to the rules on Covid-19 and this time it concerns the obligation to wear a mask in polling stations.
The new rule provides for the forfeiture of this obligation for which already from next weekend, ie from Sunday 12 June 2022, the day on which voting will be held for the municipal elections in some cities and for the referendum on justice throughout Italy, it will not be mandatory to wear a mask. Still, it remains there strong recommendation to wear it.
This was communicated by the Interior Ministry through a circular, issued by the head of the internal and territorial affairs department of the interior ministry Claudio Sgaraglia, following the agreement between the ministers Luciana Lamorgese and Roberto Speranza.
In fact, the epidemiological picture has changed in recent weeks and seems to be compatible with the provision we are talking about.
The use of the mask remains strongly recommended
Despite this, the circular emphasizes that the use of the mask is in any case strongly recommended because the virus is still circulating
Specifically, in the circular we read that it is:
strongly recommended of the surgical mask for the access of voters to the polling stations, for the sole exercise of the right to vote. The prefects are therefore requested to immediately activate and sensitize the mayors to observe the aforementioned indications, also inviting them to give maximum information, in the manner deemed most suitable, to the voters and members of the polling stations on the behavioral obligations to be kept during all operations. voting, in order to ensure maximum security and prevent the risk of contagion.
