Memorial Day at the Capodimonte Museum with two guided tours, performance and music

On the occasion of Holocaust Memorial Day, which is celebrated annually on January 27 for commemorate all the victims of the Holocaust, that is, of the Nazi Holocaust, also the Museum of Capodimonte has organized some events.

They will take place in weekend of 29 and 30 January 2022 and it's about themed guided tours organized in collaboration with the Le Nuvole association.

You will have the opportunity to visit the rooms of the Capodimonte Museum through a path that allows us to reflect precisely on Memorial Day theme.

The guided tour program

29st January

Saturday at 12.00 one art historian will lead us to admire the works of art that were stolen during the Second World War. The visit is entitled “Returns. Guided tour of the masterpieces of the Capodimonte Museum stolen in the Second World War and courageously recovered on the occasion of the Week of Remembrance 2022 ”.

The art historian will tell us about their discovery thanks to the precious help of the secret agent Rodolfo Siviero e we will be able to delight in admiring, among other works, also:

  • il Portrait of a young girl by Titian;
  • il San Girolamo by Colantonio;
  • la Transfiguration by Giovanni Bellini;
  • la Madonna of Divine Love by Raphael;
  • la Madonna of the Veil by Sebastiano del Piombo;
  • theAnthea by Parmigianino;
  • la Parable of the Blind by Pieter Brueghel the Elder.

On Sunday, however, there will be one guided tour with the artist Andrea Bolognino who will let us know his shows Blindness, Blindness, Outrage which will be open until March 15th.

It has been included in the format of the “Sensitive Encounters” Museum which gives space to contemporary artists and allows them to set up their own exhibitions.

In this exhibition, Bolognino makes his contemporary works dialogue with the historical masterpieces of the Museum, like the Parable of the Blind.

Concerts in the Museum and a visit to the Church

As happens every weekend, in the Capodimonte Museum the various rooms will be enriched by performance by the Arcoscenico Company and by the notes of M ° Rosario Ruggiero.

In addition, in the Real Bosco can be visit the Church of San Gennaro which was decorated and renovated by the architect Santiago Calatrava. The visits are carried out Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 16.00weather permitting.
