Metro Line 1, closure from Piscinola to Colli Aminei: stoppage from June 29th (3 months)

Another postponement for the construction sites on the Metro Line 1 of Naples. TheAnm, the Neapolitan mobility company that manages the line, has communicated that the closure of the section between Piscinola and Colli Aminei one week postponement: the stop will start Monday 29 June and not on June 22nd as initially planned.

The news comes just a few days before the start of the works, with a press release issued on Friday, June 19th, which postponed the start of the construction site. The works, necessary for the replacement of the second tranche of tracks, they will end anyway Sunday September 14, as per the original schedule.

What changes for passengers

For those using Line 1, next week — from Monday 22nd to Sunday 28th June — there will be no changes. This is confirmed by the ANM itself: the stations of Piscinola (terminus), Chiaiano e Frullone They will remain open as usual, and service will continue uninterrupted. The closure will begin on Monday, June 29th, and will last for all three summer months.

The company promised that in the coming days it will provide detailed updates on two key points: one-way bus schedules of Line 1 in the morning and evening hours, and the timetables and routes of the substitute shuttle which will cover the closed route.

Why the slippage

The postponement, explains the ANM, is due to "unforeseen and unexpected needs" of the company, which must complete certain activities within its remit to ensure support and assistance for the work. Essentially, preparatory work that had not been completed by June 22nd is needed before the construction sites can begin.

This is not the first time that the three stations have been subjected to surgery. This is the second consecutive year that the Piscinola-Chiaiano-Frullone section will be closed for track replacement. And it won't be the last: the ANM has already announced that in 2027 Line 1 will have to close again for a week or two to replace the railway switch at Piscinola.

The stations involved

The closure affects three stations on the northern section of Line 1:

• Piscinola — terminus of the line, interchange point with the Naples-Aversa line of EAV.
• Chiaiano — intermediate station, hub for the neighborhood of the same name.
• Frullone — intermediate station, access to the Cardarelli Hospital health center.

The line will remain active on the route Aminei Hills - Historic Center, with services ending early at Colli Aminei. For those coming from Piscinola, Chiaiano, and Frullone, the only alternative will be the shuttle bus, the details of which are still being finalized.

What will happen from June 29th

Starting June 29th, those boarding at Piscinola, Chiaiano, or Frullone will find the station closed and will have to use the replacement shuttles to reach Colli Aminei and continue by metro to the city center. For those coming from the city center (Garibaldi, Municipio, Vanvitelli) and needing to get off at Chiaiano or Piscinola, the same principle will apply: go to Colli Aminei and continue from there by bus.

The situation is particularly critical for those who work or live in the neighborhoods served by these three stations: summer 2026 will be the second consecutive summer without a direct connection. The ANM has assured that the shuttles will be available. enhanced in the peak bands and that signage will be adequate to guide passengers.

Those who need to travel to Cardarelli Hospital or the Chiaiano neighborhood can consider alternative routes using the surface bus lines that cross the area, although the ANM has not yet announced any improvements to the parallel lines.
