Naples Metro Line 1, Piscinola, Chiaiano and Frullone closed for three months

From 23 June to September 15 2025 the metro service between the stations will be suspended Piscinola, Chiaiano and Frullone, in the northern part of the Line 1 of Naples. The announcement came from ANM, who communicated the intervention as part of an important railway infrastructure renewal. The service will be regular only between Colli Aminei and Business Center, while trains will not pass through the three stations involved for about three months. A summer closure that affects thousands of commuters in the Northern area, already ready to mobilize.
Why is the Piscinola-Frullone route closed?
The closure concerns a complex technical intervention: will be replaced 5 km of tracks and redone all signalling systemsThe aim is to ensure greater security e continuity of service for the next few years. According to ANM, this is a job that has been planned for some time, but the official communication has nevertheless raised criticism. The union USB Transport reported that, if there are no speed restrictions or urgent indications from ANSFISA, the complete closure could be excessive. For this reason, a discussion with the institutions was requested and alternatives were proposed such as single-track circulation during strategic time slots.
What are the alternative services provided by ANM?
To limit mobility disruptions, ANM has planned some temporary solutionsThe train service will follow reduced timetables in certain bands:
- 06:00 – 08:00: trains from Piscinola towards Colli Aminei and then Centro Direzionale.
- 21:00 – 23:00 (Sun–Thu): trains from Colli Aminei to Piscinola.
- 00:00 – 02:00 (Fri & Sat): trains from Colli Aminei to Piscinola.
In addition, a bus replacement service:
- Active since 06: 30 to 23: 30, everyday.
- It will connect Piscinola, Chiaiano, Frullone and Policlinico.
- Average frequency: approximately every 10 minutes.
- Stops are only planned at stations.
No early closure of Line 1 It is scheduled for the summer.
