The Naples subway becomes an open museum, so contemporary works of art can be visited and protected in the stations
Is called MAM (Museo Aperto Metropolitana Napoli) the project aimed at enhancing the stations of the Naples subway 1 line that will transform one of the most beautiful lines in the world into a real museum. So the more than 160 contemporary works of art kept inside the stations will be protected and treated like the great pieces of art they are.
To design the art stations, which in the 2017 have registered 176.000 sightseeing, have been, remember, some of the most important contemporary architects in the world: Gae Aulenti, Fuksas, Atelier Mendini, Oscar Tousquets Blanca, Dominique Perrault, Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura.
As if this were not enough, in these stations you can visit works of art by the likes of Jannis Kounellis, Joseph Kosuth, Mimmo Paladino, Sol Lewitt and Mario Merz. Thanks to this project, it will be possible to take advantage of one free cultural service of the highest level. Other works are still waiting for the inauguration of the innovative stops of the 6 line.
