Dalì and Hitchcock exhibition in Naples: Spellbound arrives in European preview

The mystery behind the billboards that are promoting an event dedicated to the two geniuses of Naples has finally been revealed Salvador Dalì and Alfred Hitchcock.
It is a beautiful one exhibition which will take place from 14 April to 30 September 2022 both at Basilica of Pietrasanta, in the historic center of Naples, and which is entitled "Spellbound - Scenography of a dream".
The Basilica, for some years, has often been the location of very important art exhibitions and the interiors are so many beautiful that such an exhibition will be even more interesting to visit. The exhibition is curated by Beniamino Levi and the artistic direction is by Roberto Pantè.
Two masters in comparison
The Spellbound exhibition is presented in Naples in European preview, With masters of Thriller and Paranoia.
It is certainly a unique event that will make us admire it Spellbound, scenography created by Salvador Dalí for the film “I will save you” by Alfred Hitchcock from 1945. A truly unique work of its kind. which will be staged through an exhibition itinerary that includes:
- museum sculptures;
- glass works;
- illustrations;
- unique design pieces.
The exhibition will have a cinematic and technological slant with a hypertext narrative which will affect our deepest emotions.
It will be a show dreamlike, journey between dream and tension. Between Dalì, the master of surrealism, and Hitchcock, the master of suspense, we will be immersed in a world in which we will have to "let dreams speak to us“, As the advertising slogan indicates.
Under the banner of "Surrealist Thrill“, Of the surrealist thrill, as indicated on the posters, we will be catapulted into a very original atmosphere.
Spellbound, the Hitchcock film with the Dali scene
The reference to the title of the exhibition is clear, as mentioned: remember the Alfred Hitchcock film, Entitled Spellbound (in Italian "I will save you") Made in 1945 and for which the director himself he asked Salvador Dalí to create a dream sequence particular. Dalì, therefore, graphically reproduced some scenes of a dreamlike nature.
Originally the scene was supposed to last 20 minutes, but many parts were cut.
Hitchcock defined his film as "a manhunt story presented in a pseudo-psychoanalysis envelope".
