Free Ronnie Cutrone exhibition at Maschio Angioino

For the first time a Napoli, the exhibition dedicated to Ronnie Cutrone, entitled What a…KRAZY LIFE!. From May 18 to August 4, 2024, At the Palatine Chapel of the Maschio Angioino, it will be possible to explore the works of the famous artist of Pop art. The exhibition, conceived and produced by Matthew Lorenzelli, offers a comprehensive look at the work of Cutrone, from collaboration with Andy Warhol up to his most recent creations.
Who is Ronnie Cutrone
Ronnie Cutrone was born in 1948 in New York. He was one of the most important artists of the New pop art. He studied at School of Visual Art of New York from 1966 to 1970. Worked with Andy Warhol since 1972, helping him create many famous works.
Cutrone he participated in shows such as “Exploding Plastic Inevitable"With i Velvet Underground and Nico. His works often include characters from comics e cartoon, with an irony that reflects American society and politics.
The exhibition
The exhibition What a…KRAZY LIFE! opens on Saturday 18 May at 18pm, in Palatine Chapel of the Maschio Angioino di Napoli. It is organized by Matthew Lorenzelli for Lorenzelli Arte, in collaboration with BlackArt, Black Tarantella, City of Naples andUniversity of Naples L'Orientale.
The exhibition presents 24 works by Ronnie Cutrone, from the 80s until 2010. The works include characters from the comics, advertising clippings and references to American flag.
Among the works on display, there are i “Quilts”, where cartoon characters are embroidered on quilts, such as “The Phantom” from 1996. Other important works are “Crusade” from 2005, which combines shapes of lipsticks and bullets, and the “Red cross” cycle from 2002, with crosses on canvas. Also on display will be “Birden,” created on an Italian flag in 1982, and “Off the Rack, By the Slice, Mix&Match” from 2010, the last work made in Italy.

The entrance to the exhibition What a…KRAZY LIFE! it's free. The exhibition will be open from 20 May to 4 August 2024, from Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 13pm and from 14pm to 17pm.
