Nightlife in Naples: Piazza Bellini is closed, with new hours and fines of up to €20.
From March 6 to May 6, 2026 a new ordinance from the Municipality of Naples comes into force, designed to reduce problems related to nightlife in the Piazza Bellini areaThe measure, signed by the mayor Gaetano Manfredi, introduces stricter rules for bars, artisanal businesses, and vending machines in the area, with the aim of limiting noise at night and ensuring greater peace of mind for residents.
The decision follows several reports and several administrative and civil court rulings that emphasized the need to intervene to protect the right to rest of those who live in the neighborhood.
The new rules on the sale of drinks
One of the main points of the ordinance concerns the sale and takeaway service of drinksSpecific restrictions will be introduced during the night time slot.
From 22:30 PM to 6:00 AM It will no longer be permitted to sell or serve take-away drinks, either both alcoholic and non-alcoholicThe measure affects all businesses in the affected area.
The goal is to limit the prolonged presence of groups in the streets and squares at night, a phenomenon that in recent years has contributed to increased noise levels in nightlife areas.
Closing times for premises and businesses
The ordinance also introduces new closing times for commercial activities present in the Piazza Bellini area and in the surrounding streets.
The established times are:
• Closed by 00:30 from Sunday to Thursday
• Friday and Saturday closing by 1:30
After the closing it will be granted a 30-minute grace period, exclusively to allow for cleaning and equipment setup. Businesses may, however, reopen. starting from 6:00 am.
Increased controls and very high fines
The Municipality has also planned more intense checks by the Local Police and supervisory bodies to verify compliance with the new rules.
Penalties for those who do not comply with the ordinance can be very severe. They are: fines from 2.000 to 20.000 euros.
In case of repeated violations, the consequences can become even more severe:
• suspension of activity from 1 to 30 days
• possible revocation of commercial authorization
Noise checks after two months
The measure has an initial duration of two monthsAt the end of the application period, new noise level checks will be carried out in the area.
