The Naples - Portici Railway turns 180 years: Pietrarsa Museum at 2 euros and many events

National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa

The Naples - Portici Railway is 180 years old and admission to the Pietrarsa Museum is expected to cost 2 euros.

Il National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa is ready to celebrate the XNUMXth birthday of the oldest railway in Italy with a series of events: from 3 to 6 October 2019 musical performances and a special journey by vintage train. For the occasion, the entrance to the Museum will be only of 2 €, while evening events, such as concerts, will have a separate ticket.

The Naples - Portici section laid the foundations for the development of the Italian railway network. Older than the Kingdom of Italy, the route commissioned by the Bourbons to connect the Royal Palace of Naples to that of Portici, marked a historic moment in the history of Italian transport.

The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa of San Giorgio a Cremano preserves the finds related to the period of the construction of the railway, it guards its memory and is built right on the tracks of that historic section.

In the completely restored 2019, the Museum is ready to celebrate the 180 years of the first Italian railway with musical performances who celebrate the Neapolitan musical tradition and a trip to the Pietrasanta Express aboard vintage carriages pulled by electric locomotives.
