Naples, Visit Real Bosco di Capodimonte: unique event between art, nature and history

Il 18 March 2023, on the occasion of National Landscape Day, the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, a treasure trove of history and nature located in the heart of Napoli, will host a guided tour multidisciplinary by the botanist Salvatore Terrano and the art historian Martina Tramontano.

The meeting point will be at Belvedere, which offers a panoramic view that embraces the hill of San Martino and the gulf of Naples up to Punta Campanella and Capri. From here, it will start a itinerario which will lead the participants to the discovery of the wonders of the Real Bosco.

The route of the visit

The visit will start from the areas in front of the Reggia, walking through it Flattened, once used for grazing, and crossing the Anglo-Chinese Garden.

It will come later the Hemicycle of Porta di Mezzo, an ancient eighteenth-century access to the Real Bosco where you can admire the splendid statues that introduce the perspective on the seven avenues of the late Baroque garden. This garden it was outlined in the eighteenth century to subject the Royal Site to the hunting needs of Charles of Bourbon.

The visit continues between the monumental trees of the nineteenth-century landscape-pastoral garden wanted by Ferdinand II. In this context, agricultural activity was very important and the area housed the Royal Porcelain Factory and the productive gardens, a true self-sustainable agricultural community whose signs can still be admired today.

The path yes will untie then among the broad ones grasslands, today used for multiple sports and recreational activities, but in the past occupied by the Church of San Gennaro, the Cellaio, the Capraia and the Fagianeria.

Finally, the visit will end at Middle Fountain, positioned in the center of the Real Bosco.
