Naples, the Centro Direzionale station of Line 1 opens

The metro network of Napoli expands with a new fundamental piece. From 1st April the Centro Direzionale station of Line 1, bringing the total number of active stops along the urban route to twenty. Located in the heart of the city's business area, a stone's throw from the Regional Council of Campania and from Court, the new station represents a turning point for urban mobility.
Why is it such an important stop for Naples?
The new stop allows to thousands of commuters to reach the Business Centre without having to stop at the station anymore Garibaldi and then continue on foot. Thanks to the direct connection with the Circumvesuviana, the hub becomes even more strategic for those arriving from the Neapolitan hinterland.
The infrastructure is equipped with nine new generation trains, each with six carriages, which guarantee a ride every eight minutes, from 6: 00 to 23: 00, with extension on holidays. The railway traffic control post stay active at the station Colli Aminei, monitoring the network status in real time.
The route of Line 1, along 19 kilometers, is built in blind hole and continues to be the subject of work modernization, between replacements of escalators e lifts and renewal of thesignalling system.
The words of Mayor Manfredi
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, commented with satisfaction on the opening, calling it a “a fundamental piece for the city's transport network“. The objective, according to Manfredi, is twofold: to encourage the use of public transport and promote it economical progress of a strategic area that has always been at the centre of urban policies. The mayor publicly thanked the ANM, Naples Metro, ANFSISA and the workers who made the construction of the work possible.
What will be the next openings of Line 1?
The upgrade does not stop. The next station ready to enter into operation will be Court, always in the Centro Direzionale area. The big goal remains Capodichino, the final station of the project, which will close the metropolitan ring started in 1976, when the first stone was laid in Gold Medal Square.
Since 1993, the year in which the first trains entered service between Vanvitelli e Colli Aminei, Line 1 has transformed Neapolitan mobility, aiming today at greater accessibility, sustainability e connection between neighborhoods.
