Naples, Central Funicular closed on May 27 and 28: replacement shuttle active

Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 May 2025 to Central Funicular of Naples will be closed to the public. The announcement was made by ANM, who announced the scheduled intervention of Technical monitoring of cableway systems, Edited by Ansfisa, the National Agency for Railway Safety and Road and Motorway Infrastructure. The closure is part of the periodic control activities that concern urban cableways, which are essential for urban mobility.
Why this stop of the Naples Central Funicular?
The suspension of the service on the days indicated is necessary to allow the technical checks provided for in the safety plan on all cableway systems. This is a routine operation, planned and supervised by Ansfisa, to verify the conditions of the systems and ensure that they operate in full efficiency.
Even though this is a temporary closure, ANM has arranged a replacement service to minimize inconvenience to users, especially commuters and those who regularly use the funicular to access the hilly area and connections with Metro Line 1.
Replacement shuttle: route and service times
During the two days of suspension, a substitute shuttle with frequency of 20 minutes, in service from 7:00 to 22:00The route will involve the following sections:
- Piazza Vanvitelli
- Via Scarlatti
- Kerberbaker Street
- Via Cimarosa
- Sanfelice Street
- Palizzi Street
- and back
The aim of the service is to maintain an effective connection between the uptown neighborhoods and the main interchange points, such as subway stations and other bus lines. Users are invited to Check schedules and updates in real time through official ANM channels.
