Maziar Mokhtari , an Iranian artist born in Esfahan and active between Rome and his hometown, arrives in Naples with a new solo exhibition. The show, titled “Corpo Aureo ,” is part of the Contemporary Art 2025 – Contemporary Visions program promoted by the Municipality of Naples . It will be hosted in the spaces of the Church of San Giovanni Battista in San Giovanni a Teduccio , from September 3 to 30.

The project is created by Officine Artistiche Vesuviane and curated by Chiara Pirozzi , with the support of Assunta Saulle as organizational director and Carla Travierso as coordinator . The inauguration is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd at 18:00 PM , with a guided tour led by the artist and the curatorial team.

The exhibition is characterized by its site-specific nature : each installation is designed to interact with the church's existing architecture and decorations. Admission is free , and guided tours are also available upon reservation by email: officineartistichevesuviane@gmail.com.

What does Corpo Aureo tell and what languages does it use?

The exhibition comprises pictorial and sculptural elements located throughout the sacred building. The project moves between visual symbolism and the layering of memories , with a focus on ornamental and architectural forms typical of Iranian culture . These intertwine with Neapolitan tradition , generating a bridge between Iran and Naples , between personal memory and collective imagination.

Central to Mokhtari's visual research is the use of yellow , a color that defines the architecture of Isfahan and takes on a symbolic and philosophical value in his works. This chromatic element connects the various media employed by the artist:

  • painting
  • photography
  • video
  • installation

The result is an immersive and coherent environment, where light and color guide the narrative. The artist moves like a constant observer , capable of adapting his language to the exhibition context. The exhibition thus becomes a unique visual experience , anchored in the space and time of the city that hosts it.

Where and when to visit the Corpo Aureo exhibition?

“Corpo Aureo” will be open to visitors from 3 to 30 September 2025 , every day with double opening hours:

  • 10:00 – 12:30
  • 17:00 – 20:00

The exhibition venue is the Church of San Giovanni Battista in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood , one of the oldest in the area. The initiative also represents a cultural initiative aimed at enhancing the city's peripheral areas, often excluded from the main artistic circuits.

Admission is free . Those wishing to participate in guided tours can book by email. Direct experience with the artist and curators offers an additional opportunity to deeply understand the project's meaning and references.
