Naples, work continues on Via Riviera di Chiaia. Closure until January 2026.

Da Monday 27 October 2025 a temporary transit ban in a stretch of Riviera di Chiaia Street, in Naples. The provision, issued by Municipality of Naples – Road and Technological Infrastructure Area, will remain valid until January 13, 2026 and is part of the work plan for the construction of the new tram line between San Giovanni a Teduccio and Piazza SannazaroThe project is part of the city's sustainable mobility revitalization project and will involve a temporary reorganization of traffic.

Affected section and mode of circulation device

The closure concerns the stretch of Riviera di Chiaia Street between Republic Square and Via San Pasquale, in the part of the roadway once used as a tramway. In this area the construction sites for the laying of new tracks and for the arrangement of infrastructures connected to the power line and urban services. All traffic regulation devices that conflict with the ordinance are temporarily suspended for the period of validity of the provision.

La construction site signs will be installed by the contractor, who will also have the obligation to keep the area safe and proceed with the restoration of the state of the places once the works are completed. The ordinance also provides for the possibility for the Local Police to modify, if necessary, the times of implementation of the device for reasons of public o road safety.

Objectives and management of the construction site

The works on Via Riviera di Chiaia represent a key phase in the process of extension of the sea tram, the connection that will unite the eastern area of ​​Naples to MergellinaThe construction site includes interventions of removal, resurfacing and realignment of tracks, in addition to upgrading the road surface and electricity grid. This strategic infrastructure will improve accessibility to the coastal area and reduce the impact of vehicle traffic on the waterfront.

During the entire closing period, the Local Police and the public safety officers provided for by Article 12 of the Highway Code will monitor proper compliance with the ordinance and pedestrian and vehicular safety. The ordinance, digitally signed by Area Manager, Eng. Edoardo Fusco, will come into force from the moment the signs are installed and will be valid until the completion of the work and the definitive restoration of traffic flow.
