Naples hosts “Vento del Sud for Africa”: the solidarity concert-event for Uganda

Il Mediterranean Theater of Naples is preparing to host an event of great social and cultural importance: the concert-event “Southern Wind for Africa”, scheduled Friday, February 28, 2025 at 20:30 PM. The initiative, conceived by the singer-songwriter Shara, aims to raise funds to support the charity project Mulagi Mission, dedicated to the construction of a Shelter for abandoned children in the Ugandan village of Mulagi.
What is the purpose of the event?
The evening, sponsored by the Campania region, From Metropolitan City of Naples and from City of Naples, is intended as a moment of awareness and concrete help for the I Care Foundation, active since 1990 in Uganda thanks to the work of the Eucharistic Handmaids of Melito. The organization, with the support of volunteers, has contributed to the growth of the village of Mulagi, ensuring education, health care and hospitality to the most needy.
Who will be the guests at the event?
The evening will be hosted by journalist and writer Michelangelo Iossa, flanked by a parterre of exceptional guests coming from the world of culture, music and solidarity.
Among the personalities present, the following stand out:
- Catello Maresca, a magistrate who has always been committed to the fight against organised crime.
- Father Michael White, a reference figure for spirituality and social inclusion.
Shara's message: Naples and Africa united by music
The event aims to convey a message of inclusion and integration, values that have always characterised Naples. Shara, the creator of the project, underlines how the Neapolitan city is a crossroads of shared cultures and histories, deeply linked to its African roots:
“Naples is the city of embrace, a place where differences meet and merge. 'Vento del Sud for Africa' wants to strengthen this bond and support those in need, starting from the heart of our community”.
The musical program and tributes to great artists
The evening's programme includes an alternation of music, dance and theatre performances.
- The opening of the concert will be entrusted to "Time", an unreleased song written by Shara, which invites us to reflect on the importance of spending our time in positive actions for the common good.
- There will be moments dedicated to dance and corporeality, curated by choreographer Marco Auggiero.
- A special tribute will be dedicated to Pino DanieleOn the occasion of seventieth anniversary of his birth.
- There will be a space reserved for Michael Jackson, with a musical set performed by a choir of white voices and female voices, directed by the pedagogue Luciana MazzoneThe tribute will culminate with “We Are The World”, on the fortieth anniversary of its release.

The grand finale with “Eternamente”
The concert will close with "Eternally", an unreleased single written by Shara, with the collaboration of the South African singer Djarah Khan and arranged by Gianluca Carbone. The song will be officially launched in March with a video clip dedicated to the humanitarian mission.
