Naples, passport at the post office. How to apply

Starting from 2025, citizens residing in Naples and its province can finally request or renew the passport directly at authorized post offices. The service is born from an agreement between Poste Italiane, Ministry of the Interior e Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, with the aim of simplifying access to public administration services and reducing waiting times.
How does passport issuance at the post office work?
The procedure is simple. Once the booking online, the citizen can go to the chosen post office with the necessary documentation:
- Valid identity document
- Tax Code
- Two recent passport photos
- Payment receipt of the 42,50 euro bill
- 73,50 euro stamp duty
- Old passport (in case of renewal) or copy of the report in case of loss or theft
The postal operator will collect the biometric data (fingerprints and photo) and will send the request to the office of the State Police of competence. Once the process is completed, the new passport can be delivered directly to your home from the postal service.

The service is also active in 42 municipalities of the province with less than 15 thousand inhabitants, including Monte di Procida, San Gennaro Vesuviano, the islands of the gulf and the centres of the Sorrento coast, thanks to the project -Polis, created to extend public services to small municipalities.
What advantages does the new service offer?
The mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi he stressed how this innovation contributes to reduce waiting times and streamline your workload of the Police Headquarters offices. Also the Police Commissioner Maurizio Agricola highlighted the progress made: after the pandemic, release times had risen to around 80 days; in 2024 they had already been reduced to 15.
With this new channel, Poste Italiane strengthens its role in the digitalization of public services, offering citizens convenience, speed and widespread accessibility.
