Naples, national public transport strike November 8. Metro, buses and funiculars

Friday 8th November 2024 one is expected national strike of 24 hours, called by the trade unions Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Faisa Cisal and Ugl Fna. The protest is mainly focused on demands for renewal of the National collective labor agreement for Autoferrotranvieri. For citizens who use public transport, the ANM has communicated that only certain time slots and a limited service will be active, in compliance with current regulations and the most recent union agreements.

Metro line 1: guaranteed timetables and routes during the strike

La meter line 1 will only operate on the route Polyclinic – Garibaldi, with stops exclusively at Polyclinic, Rione Alto, Town Hall and GaribaldiThe service will be active during the following time slots:

  • Morning (06:30 – 09:30)
    • Departures from Policlinico: 06:35, 07:05, 07:35, 07:55, 08:15, 08:55, 09:15
    • Departures from Garibaldi: 07:10, 07:40, 08:10, 08:30, 09:00, 09:30, 09:50
  • Afternoon (17pm – 00pm)
    • Departures from Policlinico: 17:05, 17:35, 18:05, 18:25, 18:55, 19:25, 19:45
    • Departures from Garibaldi: 17:40, 18:10, 18:40, 19:00, 19:30, 20:00, 20:20

Metro line 6: stops and scheduled times

La meter line 6 will limit stops to Exhibition, Mergellina and Town Hall. The guaranteed departure times are as follows:

  • Departures from Exhibition: 07:16, 07:58, 08:40
  • Departures from Town Hall: 07:36, 08:18, 09:00

Funiculars: service guaranteed only for the Centrale and Montesanto lines

During the strike, the service of funiculars will suffer some limitations:

  • Mergellina Funicular: service suspended for the whole day
  • Central and Montesanto Funiculars: only direct trips are guaranteed in the following time slots:
    • Morning: first ride at 07:00, last ride at 09:20
    • Afternoon: first ride at 17:00, last ride at 19:50

Surface transport: guaranteed bus lines

As regards the surface transport, only some bus lines will be operational during the guaranteed time slots from 06:00 to 09:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00. The guaranteed lines include:

  • Alibus, 116, 130, 151, 175, 196, 254, 412, 421, R2 and R5

The operation of the other lines will depend on the participation in the strike.

Reasons for the strike

The strike was called with the aim of raising awareness on the renewal of the collective agreement for the sector Bus, tram and rail driversDuring the last 8-hour strike, held on September 9, 2024, the participation rate reached 44%.
