“Burn Europe”: a show inspired by sensational terrorist acts

Burns Europe is a very current text, which deals with some issues that are very well known to us from unusual points of view: terrorism, the fear of others, fake news and the manipulation of information, analyzing the grotesque effects that some situations have on our lives.

The show is divided into untold narrative pictures, inspired by the films divided into episodes made in the sixties and seventies in which the famous directors-authors told the politics and customs of Italian society of the time. The style used by the director is that of the satire, a useful tool to defend against intolerance, violence, racism and fascism, the only one that can tell of a war that has never been declared, but which is in the hearts of all of us.

On stage eight actors they interpret different characters and the choir, the personification of public opinion that is released on social media. Among the episodes represented: a young terrorist student of philosophy who, while on his way to the beach where he will carry out a massacre of tourists, reviews the topics of the exam that he will have to take the next morning at the university; a burnt stain left by a terrorist after a failed attack on the Brussels metro that becomes a character, in an absolutely paradoxical and over the top atmosphere.

Burns Europe it is, in short, a show that raises some questions on which we all question ourselves and to which we struggle to find answers: "Is it still safe to travel to Europe? Why do terrorists hate us so much? How can terrorism be stopped? " But above all: «Is a united Europe still possible?».
