Saturday December 9 2017 will be held Januaria, a special one evening guided tour at Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, where visitors can discover the most precious treasure in the world, whose value exceeds that of the British Crown Jewels.

Januaria - A night at the San Gennaro museum is the theatrical guided tour, organized by the cultural association NarteA, whose name evokes by assonance that of Gennaro, the name of the patron saint of Naples, which dates back to the Latin Ianuarius, derived in turn from Ianus (Janus), the two-faced god, to whom the Gens Januaria.

Indeed Januario was the surname of the saint and not the name, and is also the surname of San Gennaro, his relatives, the women who during the celebrations for the miracle, turn to him in a very colorful and intense, as they believe, given the most intense link with that of the other faithful, to have the right to ask for much more.

Today San Gennaro is revered by about 25 millions of devotees all over the world and the theatrical guided tour Januaria will be held a few days after the third date of the miracle of the bloodshed of the patron saint of Naples, linked to the disastrous eruption of Vesuvius in the 1631.

A unique show on the history of the Treasure of San Gennaro

Visitors will be guided to the discovery of the Treasure of San Gennaro da Eusebia Januario, descendant of the one who kept the blood in the ampoules, and then leave the floor to Giuseppe Navarre, called the king of Poggioreale, the hero who brought the treasure from the Vatican to Naples at the outbreak of the Second World War.

The story told will cover a time frame of well seven hundred years and will address all the events related to the Treasure of San Gennaro and its precious jewels, through historical testimonies and imaginative legends. You will be able to know, for example, the history of the famous one gemed miter of the goldsmith Matteo Treglia, composed of 3694 precious stones and realized in the 1713 commissioned by the Deputation of San Gennaro; but also the history of the necklace in gold and silver, made by Michele Dato in 1679 and enriched up to 1879 of various stones with donations of rulers from all over Europe; finally they can be admired the precious gifts delivered to the saint by Napoleon, by Pope Pius IX and by King Umberto I and Margherita di Savoia.

The show will be interpreted by the actors Valeria Frallicciardi and Andrea Fiorillo, while texts and direction are edited by Febo Quercia. At the end of the event there is one wine tasting Campania of the Nugnes cellars.
