The spectacle of shooting stars to be observed at the Lido Gallo of Varcaturo: it is the night of San Lorenzo.

A big evening of stars awaits Neapolitan fans next Saturday, August 10th, 2019, in Night of San Lorenzo.

The frame is that, splendid, of the Lido Gallo of Varcaturo, a stone's throw from the sea. From there, invited byNeapolitan Amateur Astronomers Union, you will be able to witness one of the most beautiful and fascinating phenomena that can be enjoyed looking at the night sky in summer: the meteor shower of Perseids.

We all know them under the more common but improper name of "shooting stars", even if they are not stars. In fact, what is a meteor shower? And what do they have to do with perseus and Perseids? These and many other questions and curiosities will be answered by the members of the UAN, on the occasion competent guides for the benefit of the uninitiated.

But it will not be only the meteors to put on the show. The amateurs will in fact guide the public also to the observation of the two giant planets of our Solar System: the gaseous Jupiter e Saturn. Both with the naked eye and with the help of telescopes.

But that is not all. The evening will in fact also be an opportunity for a cosmic "walk" among the visible constellations this season from our hemisphere. We will talk in particular about the myths that characterize them and amateurs will guide viewers to recognize them and find them in the wonderful night sky of Naples.
