Nocturnes in Certosa 2026: Piano concerts under the stars in the Monumental Courtyard

Classical music in the heart of Vomero: the Nocturnes in Certosa return.

Until the 25 September 2026, Monumental Courtyard of the Certosa di San Martino transforms into an evocative open-air stage for Nights in Certosa, the series of piano concerts that is part of the summer program "The Voices Above: Sounds and Visions of the National Museums of Vomero".

Five piano recitals featuring Italian and international artists, in one of the most captivating settings in the Neapolitan landscape: a sixteenth-century courtyard overlooking the baroque silhouette of the Certosa Church, with the silhouette of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples in the background. An experience that combines high music, art, and landscape.

The initiative is organized by the association Naples Opera House and edited by Luca De Lorenzo, under the direction of the Vomero National Museums, led by Almerinda Padricelli. The aim of the event is to enhance the monumental heritage of the Vomero hill through live music, offering the public high-quality evenings in venues usually closed to the public after sunset.

Sunday, September 20, 2026 — Sara Amoresano

A young performer from the new generation of Italian pianists, she has won awards in various national and international competitions. A promising classical concert performer to watch closely.

Friday, September 25, 2026 — Gile Bae

A Dutch-Korean pianist, she has performed on stages across Europe and Asia. Her style combines interpretive rigor with Eastern sensitivity. Her recital concludes the first edition of the festival.

How to reach the Certosa di San Martino

The Certosa di San Martino is located on the Vomero hill. It can be reached by car. Central Funicular (from Piazza Fuga, then on foot), with the Montesanto Funicular (Morghen stop), or by bus C63, V1 e 140By car, the nearest parking is in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro or Via Annibale Caccavello.

Voices from Above: The Vomero Museums' Summer Program

Notturni in Certosa is part of the larger program “The Voices Above”, the first cultural festival promoted by the National Museums of Vomero (Castel Sant'Elmo, Certosa di San Martino and Villa Floridiana), under the direction of Almerinda Padricelli. The festival runs from June 19th to October 4th, 2026 and includes concerts, stand-up comedy, open-air cinema, poetry and the new Pessoa Luna Park in the moat of Castel Sant'Elmo.
