Review Antica Trattoria Napoletana, famous for its "Marenne".

After presenting you a restaurant in the Sorrento peninsula, back to Naples to discover a real trattoria: The Ancient Neapolitan Trattoria, at Vomero.

The local

This small restaurant is located along Via Giacinto Gigante and you have to be careful to identify its position. The room is medium-small with the walls covered with posters and objects. But what immediately catches the eye is the counter that communicates with the kitchen: here, in fact, you can see and choose the side dishes or fried to be done at the moment.

Antica Trattoria Napoletana - Internal Hall

The kitchen is completely exposed and it is very funny, in the short wait, to see the cooks who masterly manipulate food and serve it.

The menu

The menu is obviously typically Neapolitan and it varies a lot both according to the seasons and their internal rotation. As we said before, there is a counter where all the side dishes and food to be fried are displayed, such as potato cross.

Antica Trattoria Napoletana - Eggplant in Funghetti

One of the highlights of this restaurant is the preparation of the "Marenna", that is the sandwich to be consumed at lunch. In addition, the choice of condiments is huge and is represented by the menu of the day (seconds and side dishes). The bread it's really delicious and the sandwiches, gargantuan. La Trattoria also provides a system of Delivery.

The order

We have taken one full meal: first, second and side dish. We have been offered, in the meantime, some bruschetta.

As a first course, we ordered pasta alla Genoese, which we discovered to be one of the house specialties. We must admit that it was excellent and, above all, abundant. As a main course, we preferred to stay on the meat ordering some meatballs in tomato sauce.

Antica Trattoria Napoletana - Le Polpette

Among the many side dishes available (including mushroom eggplant, mixed salad or potatoes) we preferred to order only one mixed salad.

Cost of the evening? 10 euro per person!

Conclusions

We were satisfied with this place, where the value for money it's really great. Do not be impressed by the speed of the service, which is very high, and enjoy this little gem.
