Heatwave in Naples: yellow warning and temperatures up to 33°C

The second heat wave of 2026 is hitting Italy, and Naples is no exception. The Ministry of Health has activated the yellow dot (pre-alert level 1) for the Neapolitan city, which today, Friday 19 June 2026, records temperatures up to 33°C with mostly sunny skies.

The situation in Italy

The North African anticyclone is bringing scorching air to much of the Peninsula. Eight cities have the orange stamp: Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Florence, Milan, Perugia, Rieti and Turin. Tomorrow, Saturday 20 June, we will move to red dot in Turin, Perugia, Florence, Brescia, and Bologna, with temperatures likely to reach 38-40°C next week.

Tips for dealing with the heat

The yellow dot indicates weather conditions that may precede a heat wave, posing potential risks for the most vulnerable. Here's the Ministry of Health's advice:

• Avoid going out during the hottest hours (11:00-18:00)
• Drink at least 2 liters of water per day, avoiding iced, alcoholic and sugary drinks
• Refresh the rooms with curtains and shutters closed during the day
• Pay attention to the elderly and to vulnerable people, checking them often
• Avoid intense physical activity outdoors during the central hours
• Eat lightly, preferring fresh fruit and vegetables
• Never leave people or animals in the car, not even for a few minutes

Naples: Lows around 22°C and highs up to 33°C. The weekend is expected to be hot again, with temperatures likely to rise further in the early days of next week. The heatwave is expected to peak between Monday, June 23rd and Wednesday, June 25th, with possible highs of 35-37°C in the South.
