The OPS! One Parent Show at the Terme Stufe di Nerone. Mythology and the classics dusted off and told by "singular parents"

The enchanting location of the Stufe di Nerone di Baia has welcomed in its hall for ceremonies the fun and extravagant show OPS! One Parent Show, already staged last month at the Palazzo de 'Liguoro in Naples.

An unusual, original and engaging spectacle from the first minutes, when all the spectators, after buying the ticket, are invited to enter the room and take their seats on the chairs placed in a circle open at the ends. The self-help meeting of the "Singular parents" it can begin. Yes, because the "theatrical show" to which the public will assist is the simulation of a meeting between "single" fathers and mothers who, in turn, are invited to introduce themselves and tell their own situations.

All spectators, of course, are invited to participate, caught unawares by the "moderator" of the meeting that enshrines the spirit of the show that will be maintained until the end: continuous interaction with the public, fall of the classic barriers between stage and scene.

Among the spectators are mixed characters that take turns in turn like everyone and begin to give life, with their words, to their "singular" events, problems that become increasingly absurd, to the point of evoking distant memories of past tragedies. Here it is Medea, a girl a little 'disturbing, seems to have the same appearance of the homonymous protagonist of the classic Euripides, the tragedy of the mythological Oreste has many similarities with the story told by another person in the group, and the poor and unconscious Oedipus comes to life in front of our eyes through a story that happened in other times and other places compared to the Sophocles classic.

Classics and myth are confused with current events, are revisited with irony and are thus able to recall deeds, actions, ways of behaving and dealing with each other and with life that are archetypal, common to the whole of humanity, no matter what era and what historical period.

The spectator is continually involved in funny and "group" moments, gets confused among the actors, gets excited in front of the events evoked from time to time and represented on a small stage, the only element that still marks a "distance" between what is remembered and what is narrated, with an almost "cinematic" flavor. The scene spreads several times in the audience, between tourist-like and convivial atmosphere, like the extravagant wedding ceremony in which one attends, and partly participates in the end of the show, as in the best choral conclusions of the dramas of other times.

A first dramaturgical proof of Alessandro Errico really successful even seen the hall completely full of spectators. The direction is curated by Ettore Nigro, The actors Maria Luisa Coletta, Silvio De Luca, Angela Garofalo, Raimonda Maraviglia, Monica Palomby, Margherita Romeo, Daniele Sannino and Giorgio Sorrentino, compete in skill and "extravagance". Two hours that pass quickly, between laughter, unpredictable moments, situations of interaction and "theatrical game" in which everyone takes part with laughter.

Because this is today the theater for the spectator. Be carried away by the scene, forgetting reality while remaining conscious of the "theatrical fiction". Observe what you participate in at the same time. Who can conceive the infinite ways in which to do it and put them into practice is on track to become a "teacher".
