Osteria Il Gobbetto Naples, a tavern in the heart of via Toledo | Review

Review of the Osteria "Il Gobbetto" in via Sergente Maggiore.

We will not move too far from the location of Pa-tatà, a place we presented last week, to make you discover this tavern in the heart of the alleys of via Toledo.

The local

The restaurant overlooks one of the alleys that lead to via Toledo but it is well reported from the street. The entrance with blue and white tiles stands out in the alley.

The whole is very special: the walls are painted to give the illusion of still being on the street and the furniture helps this impression. Certainly a strong point for a tourist venue. In addition, the waiters are dressed in period clothing.

Do not be scared, However. It is a tourist place, but quality is not left aside for this! Management, completely familiar, is well run and the wait at the table is very minimal.

The menu

The menu has fixed dishes, especially fish, but is enriched every day with something new depending on the market. The fish is taken, for example, in a famous fish market in the Quartieri.

There are also first courses for vegetarian people: gnocchi of the gobbetto, for example, made with tomatoes and a sprinkling of cheese.

The Gobbetto appetizer ( 8 euro per person) which is plentiful and makes you try many typical flavors.

The order

We ordered a portion of fried anchovies that was recommended to us by the waiter.

Not only the fish was fresh, but fry a lot light. We asked for light and it was explained to us that the frying oil is changed everyday!!! Cost of fish: 8 €.

We continued with one aubergine parmigiana and a zucchini, which we had chosen from the counter of the side dishes. We liked the eggplant parmigiana more, but they were qualitatively at a good level, both as a preparation and as ingredients.

mussels

Cost of the evening? 15 euro !!!

Conclusion

Local certainly marked by tourism that, however, has not given up on good food in favor of horrible non-quality middle streets. The fish is fresh and so are the other ingredients. Contrary to many inns, it does not have a lower priced menu at lunch, but it does maintain good prices both for lunch and dinner. In any case, with a first (apart from the paccheri with the crock) and a second, the bill should not exceed i 15 euro per person. The staff is cordialissimo, well informed and not insistent. Try!

The local, we are informed, also has pasta for celiac!
