On Friday, September 4th, at 5:30 pm, pediatrician Paolo Siani will present his new book , "Digital Wellbeing ," published by Giannini Editore in the Sorsi series. The event will take place at the Campus Principe in Agerola , on Via Salvatore Di Giacomo, and is part of the 6th Conference on Culture, Nature, and Science on the Upper Amalfi Coast.
The author will be in conversation with Ferdinando Casolaro , president of ANFSU. The meeting inaugurates a new series of book presentations, which addresses an ever-timely topic for families and schools: the increasingly early and uncontrolled use of smartphones by girls, boys, and adolescents.
What's the book about
Digital Wellbeing addresses the impact of devices on the cognitive, emotional, and relational development of young children without demonizing technology , proposing a balanced and informed approach based on the latest scientific evidence and the recommendations of the Italian Society of Pediatrics.
Through data, international studies, and clinical observations, the book shows how early exposure to devices increases the risk of digital addiction, sleep disorders, attention difficulties, and emotional and relational problems . At the same time, it suggests concrete ways to reduce excesses: delaying the use of personal smartphones , limiting screen time, encouraging alternative activities, and building educational partnerships between family, school, and the community.
The digital diet is not a punitive renunciation, but a healing choice : taking time away from the screen to give it back to relationships, listening, and being present, for the benefit not only of the little ones but also of the adults called to be credible role models.
