Twilight lunar eclipse visible in Naples: the first of the decade

Eclipse of the Moon

Tomorrow, 10 January 2020, the first penumbral Lunar eclipse of the decade: the show will also be visible in Naples!

Coming tomorrow, January 10 2020, The first Lunar eclipse of penumbra of the decade, which will also be visible from the city of Naples, an appointment therefore not to be missed for astronomy enthusiasts but also for the most curious.

The fascinating show will be visible for approx four hours from 18:07 and will continue until 22:10 with a peak at 20:10. A truly suggestive event that can be admired from three different continents, that is Europe, Asia and Africa.

The lunar eclipse of penumbra

This fascinating event is nothing but an optical phenomenon for which the penumbra (and not the shadow) of the Earth it partially obscures the Moon, and that occurs when the moon is in the "full" phase while the Sun, Earth and it are aligned precisely in this order.

In particular, our Satellite will enter the penumbra for more than 9/10 and therefore will be visible to the naked eye, even if it will simply be a matter of seeing the Moon more faded than usual. In addition to the lunar eclipse, tomorrow at 17:00 you will be able to see the sun setting in the west and in the opposite part of the horizon, to the east, you will be able to observe the rising of the moon and at that moment there will be the full moon.
