Pfizer anti-Covid vaccine: will be distributed in the UK in a few days

Pfizer-BionTech vaccine

The Pfizer-BionTech vaccine has been approved in the UK which will be the first country to distribute it to the population, giving priority to certain categories.

Il UK is the first country in the world to have approved the Pfizer-BionTech vaccine and distribution should start shortly.

The announcement was made today, Wednesday 2 December 2020, after theUK Medicines Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approval who re-analyzed the data of the two companies, the American giant and the German company. Clinical tests were performed on a sample of 44000 volunteers and did not give serious side effects.

The United Kingdom, therefore, will be the first country to use it on the population so as to counter the Coronavirus that is causing so much damage in the world with the Covid-19 disease.

It is a record because generally the distribution of a vaccine takes many more years than the 10 months that have elapsed so far from the first developments to this next distribution, but the government obviously had to get the authorization from the MHRA first.

Millions of doses to vaccinate the population

At the moment they have been buy 40 million doses which are sufficient to vaccinate 20 million people. In fact, the vaccine is administered in two times, the second injection one month after the first. The first to be vaccinated will be the healthcare personnel, the members of social services, elderly e other categories at risk.

The first quota of 10 million doses is expected to arrive in the UK in a few days. As more doses become available, they will be vaccinated people over the age of 50 (the greatest possible number of individuals) and i young people with other health problems.

This second phase of vaccination should start in early 2021 with the arrival of the other doses.
