The Chiaia Riviera in Naples

The Riviera

The Chiaia Riviera stands between Piazza della Vittoria and Piazza della Repubblica, inside the renowned Chiaia district.

The term Chiaia derives from beach, or beach in Catalan, and dates back to the Aragonese period.
The road was built at the end of the 1600 on the will of the Viceroy Luis de la Cerda y Aragón and duke of Medinaceli.

The riviera is entirely bordered on one side by the Municipal villa and on the other by churches and palaces.
