The 27 May 2015 will inaugurate the exhibition Pompeii and Europe. 1748-1943, which will take place at the same time as National Archaeological Museum of Naples andAmphitheater of Pompeii until November 2 2015.
The interesting exhibition is among the most important events realized for theExpo 2015, . A colossal exhibition project born from the interaction of the knowledge and ideas of archaeologists, art historians, architecture and literature, which will tell another aspect of the history of the city of Pompeii, which starts from the beginning of thecables in the 1748 up to the dramatic and destructive war bombardment of the 1943.
A rediscovery of Pompeii that, besides being an inexhaustible source of historical and artistic interest, embodies timeless canons of beauty, harmony, perfection, measure creating a bridge between past and present, ancient and modern. As Garnier called it, "Pompeii is not a shapeless mass of rubble, an exclusive matter for the erudite speculations of an archaeologist: it is a living ruin ... it is reality itself ".
The event is promoted by the Special Superintendence for Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabia and by the General Directorate of the Great Pompei Project, with the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Naples and organized by Electa.
