The suggestive Teatro Grande of the Archaeological Excavations of Pompeii will be reopened to the public with the representation of the Greek tragedy "L'Orestea" by Aeschylus

Next weekend, that of the And June 28 29 2014, it will be really special for the city of Pompei. The Grand Theater of Archaeological Excavations it will, in fact, reopened after four years of closure by order of the judiciary. The structure was released from the public prosecutor's office of Torre Annunziata after the investigation into the restoration work carried out during the period of commissioning of the archaeological site. The reopening of the site was ordered with the indictment of all the suspects.

Il Forum of Cultures, which has reopened all the UNESCO World Heritage sites for its events, has therefore decided to give new life to one of the most ancient and evocative theaters in the world, a special location that lends itself particularly to the representation of the Greek tragedies chosen for the inauguration.

The Great Theater of the Archaeological Excavations of Pompeii

The appointment with the shows represented in the wonderful location of Great Theater of Pompeii è per Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June. Protagonist of the event the Greek tragedy par excellence, the trilogy The Oresteia, with which Aeschylus won the Great Dionysia in 458 BC. It is the only surviving Greek trilogy in its entirety, consisting of the tragedies Agamemnon (on stage the 28 June), Le Coefore e The Eumenides (staged on June 29). The shows were chosen by the National Ancient Drama Institute (Inda) to celebrate its hundred years of life.

You can then perform a real dive into the past, witnessing one of the most ancient forms of theater (the Greek tragedy) inside a structure built in the second century BC, which was later completely buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD and found thanks to the archaeological excavations of ancient Pompeii. In this location comedies, mimes and pantomimes and atellane were represented. A place that comes back to life in a few days and that, hopefully, will be able to start hosting theatrical reviews and special events again.
