Historic Quintana in Melizzano between history and traditions

For Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2023, Pro Loco Acquaviva is organizing a new edition of the Quintana di Melizzano, a special event that transports guests back to the evocative atmosphere of the Middle Ages.

Indeed, Melizzano will be transported back in time, amidst lights, colors, sounds, and scents reminiscent of a bygone era. The streets are specially decorated with banners and flags, and for the occasion, residents, as well as those from neighboring towns, dress in period costumes. In short, a truly captivating and special experience. The Giostra, of course, is a must-see.

What is the carousel

The Giostra , the heart of the Melizzano event, is nothing less than a competition featuring ancient tests of skill and dexterity of medieval knights. Indeed, the knights on their steeds will put on a truly unique spectacle, challenging each other in a series of skill tests, attempting to hit targets with their lances.

Music, parades and markets

This new edition of the event will also feature parades of people in period costumes , traditional music and dance performances, as well as artisan stalls and markets where you can find a wide variety of local products, as well as refreshment stands serving traditional fare.
