In the deposits of the wonderful Palace of Caserta an exceptional discovery was made, that is, a statue of the Italian sculptor was found Giuseppe Sanmartino, he is the author of the Veiled Christ, the work that is currently kept in the Sansevero Chapel

This fantastic discovery was made on the occasion of the works, commissioned by the Direction of the Museum of the Ministry of Culture, to rearrange the deposits of the Royal Palace of Caserta. It is thought, however, that this statue is found in this place at least since 1879.

Sanmartino's work rediscovered: that's what it is

The work that was found in the deposits of the Royal Palace of Caserta represents the newborn Carlo Tito, or the first-born male of King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon need Maria Carolina of Austria.

The sculpture, belonging to the artist Giuseppe Sanmartino, will be subjected to restoration works and subsequently in an exhibition that will be set up during the Christmas period will be presented to the public.

However, today 3 October 2021, the statue will exceptionally be exhibited in the Palatine Chapel of the Royal Palace of Caserta.
