Agerolese Potato Festival in Agerola on 14 August 2024

In the heart of lush valley of Agerola, every year the tradition of the village of Santa Maria invites us to participate in the delicious “Taste the potato” festival.

An unmissable gastronomic event, now in its 19th edition, which is due to the passion of the festival committee, the families and the commercial operators of the hamlet. Love for one's territory and the valorisation of its excellences are the basis of this event which attracts hundreds of visitors every year.

The heart of the festival: the Agerolese potato

La Agerolese potato he is the true protagonist of the festival. Thanks to unique climate of Agerola and the quality of its soil, this product does not require any chemical treatment, maintaining absolute authenticity. Potatoes, a symbol of the Agerola tradition, are used in many ways ancient recipes which exalt them together with other local excellences. The festival is a special occasion to taste these authentic dishes and rediscover the flavors of the past.

The program of the festival

Il August 14th, 2024, the Agerole potato festival will offer a rich and engaging program for all visitors. At 20: 00, the opening of the food stands will take place, where it will be possible to taste the festival menu, made up of dishes that highlight local excellence.

The evening will continue with the concert of Alessio, which will begin at 22 pm, a musical experience that will round off a day full of taste and tradition.

Menu of the festival

The menu of the Agerolese potato festival is a true triumph of local flavours and culinary traditions. Guests will enjoy:

• Farmer's appetizer with croutons from Agerola
• Gnocchi of the cheese maker with fiordilatte flakes
• Baked pork chop with potato timbale and wholemeal bread
• Glasses of wine and 50 cl bottles of water
• Pastry chef's bomb and bunch of traditional grapes

Religious celebrations

The Agerolese potato festival takes place in conjunction with the religious celebrations in honor of Holy Mary of the Assumption. The spiritual heart of the event is the medieval church of Santa Maria La Manna, which houses a beautiful wooden statue of the Madonna. A church which with its suggestive bell tower dominates the Agerola valley and represents an important place of worship and tradition for the local community. The religious celebrations, therefore, are intertwined with the gastronomic ones, creating a unique and engaging atmosphere.
