2026 Gnocco Festival in Taurano: dates, program, and information

From August 6 to 9, 2026, the Irpinia village of Taurano , in the province of Avellino, will host the Sagra dello Gnocco , one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Irpinia summer. Four evenings dedicated to flavor, tradition, and good music, with musical entertainment curated by Radio Marte artists.

The gnocco, the star of the event, is prepared according to the traditional Irpinia recipe: a dough of flour, eggs, and potatoes, topped with fresh tomato sauce, sausage, and local pecorino cheese. Variations with porcini mushrooms, truffles, and seasonal vegetables will also be offered during the festival.

2026 Dumpling Festival Program

The four evenings will take place at the stands set up in the centre of Taurano:
6-7 August – Opening of food stands with tastings of gnocco and typical Irpinia products, accompanied by local wines such as Greco di Tufo and Fiano di Avellino.
August 8th – Gala evening with live music and performances by artists from the Radio Marte network.
August 9th – Grand finale with music, dancing, and tastings until late at night.

In addition to gnocco, the stands will offer other traditional Irpinia specialties: sausage and broccoli rabe, smoked provola, caciocavallo impiccato, and traditional sweets such as soft nougat and chestnuts.

Taurano and Irpinia

Taurano is a small Irpinia municipality located in the Lauro Valley, about 30 km from Avellino. Surrounded by hills covered with vineyards and olive groves, the village is an ideal starting point for exploring the beauty of Irpinia, from medieval villages to wineries, from sanctuaries to the Partenio trails.

Taurano can be reached by car from Avellino (about 30 minutes) via the SS7 bis towards Nola, or from the A16 Naples-Bari motorway (Baiano exit, then 10 km). The nearest train station is Baiano on the Naples-Baiano Circumvesuviana line.
