San Gregorio Armeno, pedestrian one-way for the Christmas period 2022

As every year, the famous Via San Gregorio Armeno in Naples is preparing to fill up with tourists from all over the world, not only Italians therefore, who will come to visit the renowned crib shops located throughout the street.

There are dozens of shops where the talented artisans showcase not only the traditional characters of the Neapolitan nativity scene, but also the most famous personalities in politics, television, cinema, music and theatre.

That is why, during the Christmas period the Municipality prepares the pedestrian one-way street on Via San Gregorio Armeno: in this way better traffic will be guaranteed on this road which will be overrun by citizens and tourists.

How the pedestrian one-way works

From Saturday 3 December 2022 the pedestrian one-way will be active in Via San Gregorio Armeno from the intersection of via San Biagio dei Librai/Vico Figurari in the direction of Piazza San Gaetano.

Furthermore, the ordinance states that:

in the event of a critical condition detected by the Local Police operators relating to a excessive concentration of people at the intersection between via San Biagio dei Librai and via San Gregorio Armeno, the Municipal Police Officer responsible for coordinating the services will order thetemporary interdiction of pedestrian flows at the intersection of Piazzetta Nilo/San Biagio dei Librai and the intersection of via Duomo/via San Biagio dei Librai until the need ceases.

When the pedestrian one-way will be in effect: timetables

As mentioned, from 3 December there will be the start of the pedestrian one-way that will be active until December 24 precisely in following times:

  • Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December from 09: 00 to 21: 00;
  • from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 December from 09: 00 to 21: 00;
  • from Saturday 17 to Friday 23 December from 09: 00 to 21: 00;
  • Saturday December 24 2022 from 09:00 to 15:00.
