San Pietro a Patierno: seized illegal landfill

In northern suburbs of Naples, a San Pietro a Patierno the Environmental Protection Operating Unit, led by the lieutenant Del Gaudio, he has seized one illegal landfill of 2500 square meters. The checks revealed that the area is the responsibility of a company in the Vesuvian hinterland “La Lombarda”. The owners of the company had built three unauthorized artifacts on land intended as an orchard, used partly as a landfill and partly for unauthorized commercial activities, including a tire repair shop.

Uno sversatoio in the open air that was located precisely in Via Caserta Bravo 154, used for the disposal of various types of waste such as end-of-life machinery, textile waste, refrigerators, motor vehicle engines and batteries, mattresses and moped frames. In addition, 60 tons of discarded tires and two trucks used as collectors of construction materials and mechanical waste of various kinds were stored inside the area.

A real threat to the public health, this illegal landfill, as it is located close to the inhabited center, in total absence of fire prevention and environmental protection regulations. The action of the environmental police led to the closure of this workshop, as well as the denunciation of the administrator of the company “La Lombarda” and the manager of the workshop.

“An operation”, as stated by the Deputy Mayor Sodano, "which shows the administration's commitment in the fight against the illegal disposal and abandonment of waste, and the environmental protection and prevention of our territory, in particular to combat the phenomenon that affects above all the so-called area of "Land of fires".
