Santa Croce Cult 2025. Workshops, music and new initiatives to relaunch Piazza Mercato
From May 6 to December 2025, Piazza Mercato becomes the beating heart of a journey of cultural regeneration. The project starts Holy Cross Cult, promoted by City of Naples to enhance the historical Church of Santa Croce and Purgatory at the Market and the entire square, through a widespread program of artistic, musical and participatory events. The calendar includes free workshops for adults and children, performances, concerts, and a public notice for cultural initiatives, with the aim of transforming the space into a permanent center of social and creative life.
A new vision for Piazza Mercato
After the Christmas lights and the artist's light installation Franz Cerami in 2024, the Manfredi Administration relaunches with a program that unites enhancement of historical heritage e citizen participation. Through a territorial table with cultural and social promotion associations, the idea of making the church a living and shared space, intended to host activities, was born self-sustaining ranging from music to theatre, from literature to visual arts. Proposals for the public notice can be sent within 10:00 on 24 April 2025, for initiatives to be carried out between the May 16th and November 30th.
Songs on the Surface: Workshop with Francesco Di Bella
Among the main events of the program, the following stands out: “Songs on the Surface”, the laboratory of songwriting edited by Francesco Di Bella. Divided into six weekly meetings, it will be held every Wednesday starting from 7st May, from 15: 00 to 18: 00. The course delves into every phase of the musical creative process: from the initial idea to composition, from the text structure to the melody, up to the arrangement and publication. Participants will be able to present their own piece that will be analyzed collectively.
"I put my experience as a composer at the service of those who want to learn. In these workshops there is always a very strong human exchange", said Di Bella, underlining the social and cultural value of the initiative.
A choir for the little ones: the workshop with Sanitansamble
Starting from 6st May, every Tuesday from 16: 00 to 18: 00, music becomes a game and discovery with the children's choir workshop from 6 to 12 years old, directed by SanitansambleThe route, divided into 18 encounters, aims to develop vocal, musical and relational skills in a welcoming and playful environment. Through breathing techniques, musical games and collective harmonies, the activity aims to stimulate creativity and collaboration among the youngest, offering them a safe space to express themselves.
