Friday December 12, 2025 Neapolitan public transport will be affected by one general strike of 24 hours, with territorial membership of the acronym CGILANM informs that the service interruption will be carried out in compliance with the guaranteed time slots established by law, but the day promises to be complex for tram, bus, metro, and funicular users. The impact will vary depending on the lines and timetables, making it necessary to plan travel carefully.

Surface lines: guaranteed bands

Surface lines will be among the services most exposed to disruption, as they cover a large portion of daily travel. For many users, they represent the only alternative to rail transport, and during a prolonged strike, they become the first indicator of the real impact on the local area. Although protected time slots allow for a minimum level of continuity, the reduction in services at other times can lead to crowding and prolonged waits.

Trams, buses and trolleybuses will observe two guarantee bands:

  • 5:30 – 8:30
  • 17:00 – 20:00

Le last departures preceding the strike will take place 30 minutes before, while the resumption of service is expected about 30 minutes later the end of protected bands.

Metro Line 1: morning and afternoon schedules

Line 1 remains a central hub for students, workers, and tourists. During a 24-hour strike, subway restrictions impact the entire city, as many routes lack equally efficient bus alternatives. Therefore, scheduling guaranteed service schedules becomes crucial to minimizing disruption.

Metro service will be severely reduced, with trains guaranteed only during limited time slots.

Morning:

  • First race: Pool 6:30 PM - Business Center 7:10 PM
  • Last run: Pool 9:15 PM - Business Center 9:13 PM

Afternoon:

  • Restart: Pool 17:07 PM - Business Center 17:47 PM
  • Last run: Pool 19:40 PM - Business Center 19:39 PM

Metro Line 6: limited service

Line 6, already characterized by a more limited service than Line 1, will experience further reductions in the morning hours. Users will therefore have to consider a very limited time window to use the connection, requiring precise travel planning.

  • Last ride from Show 9:08
  • Last ride from Town Hall 9:14

No evening extension will be granted in the event of participation in the strike.

Funiculars: reduced service

The funiculars—essential for connecting the hilly areas with the city center—will also be affected by the strike. Service will be guaranteed only in the early morning and late afternoon, leaving two large periods of the day unserved. This will inevitably lead to delays and increased pressure on alternative lines.

  • Last morning run: 09:20
  • Resumption of service: 17:00
  • Last ride guaranteed: 19:50

No extensions are planned for the funiculars either.

Why people strike

The general strike was proclaimed with a broad platform of demands, which includes:

  • protection of purchasing power and renewal of contracts;
  • tax reform and neutralization of fiscal drag;
  • support for pensioners, precarious and discontinuous workers;
